Christopher Eccleston’s intensity as the Doctor gives me chills every single time. He despised the Daleks, so I despise them. He made me terrified of them. Nowadays the Daleks are just a castoff joke in the Whoniverse, but remember when we first saw them in New Who? And remember in Bad Wolf, the way he cracked his neck before speaking to them? Remember how he defied them? Remember the hatred, the fear, the look on his face? He is the Oncoming Storm. He is the Dalek’s worst enemy. They are his worst enemy. The intensity that Eccleston brought to the table is threaded through his entire run. No other actor could have done that. He was amazing, and that isn’t something you can deny. Anyone watching Nine’s run and coming away disappointed is obviously not watching the same show as I am, or something. Nine was incredible, and he deserves more credit.
